The concept of Motel took off mainly with the idea to provide hygienic food in a healthy set-up for the travellers and industries on the highway.

Because of its location, it is easily accessible to the travellers on the highway, who can put up for a stay and even attend to, at the same time, their business needs at Kolkata. Phuleshwar, Botanical Gardens, Belur Math, Bally Mandir, can be visited while stationed at Motel. It boasts of an Agro and Dairy Farm attached to it which provides milk products and farm fresh vegetables. The land being very fertile is ideal for organic farming and floral plantations.

Motel Midway is well known for its Farm Fresh Food. Paneer Tikka, which is a must have on the Menu, is prepared from fresh paneer procured from the Farm attached to it. Those averse to eating this preparation will also be converted into die-hard paneer fans, while, Chicken Reshmi Kabab, Chicken Hareyali Kabab, Fish Tikka are the non-veg delicacies.

Being on National Highway 6, the motel with manicured lawns beckons the traveller. As you speed through the Kona Expressway you are alerted to its existence by a banner ad that proclaims."Jaunt for family outtings, eatings and holidaying". Proprietor Y. Sings calls it "the most rejuvenating resort this side of the river that serves the most palatable Paneer Tikka".
As you Pass the Dhulagori crossing, you are once again directed to the motel. If despite such reminders you give Motel Midway the miss, it is because of the plethora of choices in the vicinity. Yet, Motel Mid way is probably the oldest on this stretch of the highway since it was built right when the Vidyasagar Setu was coming into being. Uniquely positioned as a resort and a motel, it draws both the traveller and the corporate crowd wanting to escape the bustle of the city. Its bucolic surroundings and farm fresh food make the stay memorable.

Capacity: Restaurant has 50 covers, motel has 22 rooms, of which 11 are air-conditioned and 10 are not.
Pop picks: Motel Midway is known for its farm fresh food. The must try is the Paneer Tikka with fesh paneer being from the resort's own dairy right behind the motel. Similarly, all vegetables come from its vegetable farm. Winters will see the ubiquitous but must-have Sarso Saag and Makki Roti served with white butter. One could also try Fish Tikka, Chicken Reshmi Kebab and Palak Paneer.
Price pattern: A plate of Tandoori Chicken costs Rs. 165 while Chicken Reshmi Kebab comes for Rs. 100. The most popular Paneer Tikka costs Rs. 90, Fish Tikka Rs. 100 and Sarso Saag Rs. 65. Makki Roti comes for Rs. 5 a piece.
Add-ons: Food is also served on the well-manicured lawns during winter weeks, but this attracts extra service charge. The sylvan surroundings make the meals a most pleasurable experience. The corporates can also plan their presentations outdoors.

Name-dropping: Prosenjit and wife Arpita have dropped in, on a couple of occasions. Rakhee has been a visitor at the motel. Sonu Nigam and Shakti Kapoor have also been here.
Future plans: A health club, a gym, a swimming pool and bigger suites so that the motel can be upgraded to a four-star hotel. The suites are under construction.

People come here for the food. They do not get such good quality food anywhere else in the area. Officers from the nearby factories drop in to enjoy a good lunch. We cook food only when orders are placed. All leftovers are given away each day to the needy.
